Whenever you hear about someone from New York going to Miami, I don’t know about you but the first thing that I think about is parties, bars and Miami beach. That isn’t a bad thing but you can experience that literally anywhere, and if you’re going to Miami, experience more than just the typical. If it’s your first time in Miami, Florida and you want to experience more than just going out to a bar or club here are some of my suggestions.
Take a bus (or drive) to Key West
It’s about four hours away from Bayside where you can book a bus tour to Key West for around $65 (price may vary depending on the person) or you can google another bus service for a cheaper price. Once you hit Key West you’ll find out how much they love key lime pie (SERIOUSLY it’s everywhere) and the ocean! There’s plenty of water activities like snorkeling, where you might be able to see dolphins, or parasailing, jet skiing and more.
TIP 1: If you do decide to take a bus tour, they might try to con you out of a few extra dollars. All the activities posted above are around 45 per person on land.
TIP 2: If you want to try all the water activities then I would suggest that you drive there. The bus tours do have time constraints and they will leave you behind.
Day trip to the Bahamas anyone?
Yup, you read that right! You can take a day cruise from Miami to the Bahamas (Bayside) — two adventures and a cruise all in one. Who can beat that? You’ll be able to enjoy all the cruise amenities and then the Bahamas before you get to go back to Miami.
Book a boat tour to Star Island and see the famous celebrity homes, like Jennifer Lopez and Will Smith. I recommend the pirate ship themed boat. Don’t be fooled by its theme, this is not a kid-friendly boat! It’s cheesy and over the top, but if you enjoy hip hop, reggaeton, dancing (because they let you and encourage you to dance on the ship) and let’s not forget alcohol, do it! Just make sure you’re around a good group of people who like to have fun. Remember, life is what you make it.
If you’re not interested in a boat tour there’s also bike tours and even tours around the everglades. Honestly, this may be one of the most touristy things you’ll ever do in Miami but try it and you won’t be disappointed!
Visit Coconut Grove! It’s a unique place where you can relax by Biscayne Bay in the daytime and vibe out at the grove at night. They have a lot of interesting restaurants, live music, art and events going on all the time. Not to mention they have the coolest looking trees everywhere.
And after all that fun then hit up Miami Beach and enjoy the strip.
